OUR MINISTRIES
VMSD offers many different ministries to its parioshners. No matter how young or old you are, how new you are to our flock, or how unfamiliar you are with theology, there is a place for you.
Divine liturgy
The Coptic Church of Alexandria has kept the apostolic and
patristic spirit of the liturgies for the last 2,000 years. The richness
of the Coptic Liturgy is obvious and easy to be experienced by
attending the service. Liturgies are prayed at VMSD on Sundays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays.
Community Bible study
VMSD is set in the heart of North White Plains and its historic architecture adds much warmth and presence to the community. For this reason, many members of the community and surrounding neighborhoods often visit requesting a Bible study be held for the general public. By God's grace, we are happy to announce this ministry and welcome all members of the community to join us for our Community Bible Study which is held every Sunday Evening at 5:00 pm.
Sunday school
Our Sunday School serves grades K-12 and is modeled after the curriculum of the Southern Archdiocese of the United States. If you would like to enroll your child in Sunday School, please contact Father Tadros.
Young adults fellowship
Our Young Adults Fellowship meets once a month on the first floor of the church. If you are in college, a recent graduate, new career professional or newly married, this fellowship is perfect for you. We often begin the evening with prayers, followed by a lecture from a guest speaker, and conclude with a discussion. Refreshments are served.
Servants prepatory
There is no greater privilege in life than to serve God and His sheep. Our Servants Prepatory Course provides youth and adults with foundational knowledge and understanding of the Orothodox Christian faith in order to deepen their relationship with God and prepare them to do His work within and outside the Church. There is no service too small in the sight of God. If you would like to use your talents and skills to further the Kingdom of Heaven on Earth, consider observing a Servants Prep class to see if it's right for you.
Choir
Team Khristos is the official name of the VMSD choir. Choir rehearsals are held every Sunday afternoon in the main church. All ages are welcome to join. The choir regularly performs hymns during church feasts and functions. If you can play a musical instrument, please consider lending your talent to this ministry.
